The client, Analogue Translation Services, is an Ottawa-based translator that provides translation services to small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
When the client approached us, they had a website that had been designed for them 3 years previously. This website no longer represented the company or services offered, and didn’t speak to their target market. The client had already tried to redesign their website on their own, but weren’t happy with the results. Additionally, the client needed the website to have both an English and French version, in order to reach their full audience. We were asked to take over the website redesign, start from scratch and create something that would work better for the client within their allocated budget and timeline.
This project began with a pre-coded WordPress theme and included custom development to extend the theme so that it met the client’s needs.
In order to work within the client’s budget and timeline, we went in the direction of purchasing a pre-coded WordPress theme. This theme had a number of built-in elements that could easily be pulled into any web page; this provided an easy-to-use framework, however in a lot of cases there was English text hard-coded into the elements within the theme files. In addition to setting up the website, inputting all of the content for the client, and designing website imagery, we took all of the out-of-the box elements and created French versions of all out-of-the-box elements in a child theme so the client could best speak to their target market.
Our client left us a positive review saying, “I loved working with Courtney. She exceeded my expectations. Very talented and professional service.”
